IELTS Preparation – Academic & General Training
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is one of the most recognised English exams, accepted by universities, employers and government bodies. IELTS results are valid for two years from the date of the exam. This global standard ensures that your English proficiency accurately reflects your current language ability at the time institutions or employers review your results.
At ICS English, we help you prepare for both the Academic and General Training versions of the test, focusing on exam techniques, confidence building, and real-world language skills.
IELTS Academic
The IELTS Academic test is designed for learners who plan to study at university level or apply for professional registration in fields such as medicine or nursing. It assesses your ability to understand and use complex academic language across the four key skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
The test lasts 2 hours 45 minutes and follows the same format worldwide. While the Listening and Speaking sections are the same as in the IELTS General Training test, the Reading and Writing tasks are specifically focused on academic topics and contexts.
Choose IELTS Academic if you aim to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level or need proof of English proficiency for a professional qualification.
ELTS General Training
The IELTS General Training test is ideal for those who plan to migrate to an English-speaking country such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the UK, or for anyone wishing to study or train below degree level.
This version of IELTS focuses on practical, everyday English and real-life communication skills used in social, workplace, and travel contexts. It assesses your abilities across four components — Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
The Listening and Speaking tests are the same as in the IELTS Academic exam, while the Reading and Writing sections are tailored to more general, practical topics.
Choose IELTS General Training if your goal is migration, work experience, or non-academic study in an English-speaking environment.
